We are usually asked about:

Do you accept insurance?

Green Healing Wellness Center is not able to accept insurance payment. Kevin Passero, N.D. holds a degree of Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.) and is a licensed, board-certified Naturopathic Physician in the District of Colombia and the state of Oregon. However, the state of Maryland does not currently offer licensing for naturopathic doctors so insurance companies will not participate. If you are seen at Dr. Passero’s Washington DC office most labtests will be covered by insurance and Dr. Passero will provide you with a billing summary that can submitted to insurance.

How long will my appointment be?

The first appointment last 1 ½ – 2 hours and includes a detailed health history, work up and initial recommendations to get you started on your way to better health. The follow up appointments are 45 minutes long and include appropriate follow up testing and assessment of your naturopathic plan and general health situation. These follow up appointments serve as the compass that continually leads patient and doctor to the road of optimal health and wellness.

Can I bring my child to the appointment?

If the focus of the appointment is on you and not your child I encourage you to arrange for someone to watch him/her. Having a child present is often distracting and can bring the focus away form your health concerns.

Why is natural medicine a healthier option?

Natural medicine utilizes tools and therapies that promote lifelong improvements in health. Individuals that incorporate the basics of healthy living and natural medicine into their lives are much more likely to live a longer life while looking and feeling better at the same time.

What types of diet changes will I be expected to make?

Food can be one of the most powerful influences for regaining health and vitality. Your particular diet changes will be based on your specific needs and desires. Generally speaking, the more willing you are to commit to positive diet changes the more effective your other therapies will be. Some people are able to completely manage a chronic health concern through diet alone. These individuals save incredible amounts of money on office visits, medications and supplements. Dr. Passero will take into account both what is best for your specific concern, and what you are willing and capable of doing at that time.

Do I have to stop taking my prescription medication or discontinue other therapies to benefit from Naturopathic Medicine?

Absolutely not. No prescription medication should ever be abruptly discontinued. However, many people find that as their body’s regain health and vitality they need to rely less on prescription drugs and can adequately manage their health with more natural approaches. All patients are strongly advised to make any changes in prescription medication under the supervision of their managing physician. Most primary care and supervising physicians are happy to help reduce a patient’s reliance on medication when appropriate. If prescription medication cannot be avoided, natural therapies are often very useful for reducing the potential side effects and enhancing therapeutic value.

I am not good at taking pills, are there alternatives?

This can be a common problem for many people and especially children. Many of the herbal supplements and vitamins can be made available in liquid form. Through his experience and collaborative partnerships in the community Dr. Passero is very capable of requesting custom compounded vitamin formulas available in pleasant tasting liquid forms. People who do not like taking vitamins in any form are encouraged to rely more heavily on positive dietary and lifestyle changes.
